The Lion Sleeps Tonight: A Ukulele and Harmony tutorial

Miss Chu is back with another ukulele tutorial and is joined by a familiar-looking mystery guest! The girls love musical theatre, and whilst Singapore doesn’t have the equivalent of Broadway or the West End, an increasing number of international productions are landing on our shores these days, alongside a fast-growing local theatre scene. Support for the performing arts is certainly on the rise and there’s really a lot on offer compared to when I was a kid in Singapore. To us, tickets seem relatively expensive, especially coming from Edinburgh where we used to be able to catch loads of quality children’s productions at the Edinburgh Fringe for £10 a pop. Prices here are probably double or triple what we used to pay back in the UK. But when I heard The Lion King was coming to town I knew the girls would love it, and it was undoubtedly the most visually and vocally spectacular production they’ve ever seen. The Lion Sleeps Tonight is a song the girls remember fondly from our toddler parent-and-child singalong group back in Edinburgh, so, inspired by the musical, Miss Chu decided to resurrect this old favourite for a video! Hope you enjoy it.

  1. Hello girls & mom!
I met my niece Linda last week, and she told me a hello from you! Thanks! How nice that you could make it to Slush to meet her!

    • Hi! Yes it was lovely to meet your very talented niece Linda in person here in Singapore – not actually at Slush but at a children’s AI workshop she held at Saturday Kids. Miss Chu was amazed that Linda recognised her too!

      • Hi, I got mixed up, when Linda also talked about Slush. No wonder Linda recognized Miss Chu, she has become so familiar through all the nice videos you have posted! All the best for your family from cold but sunny Finland!
